At a relaxed 3 hour drive from Sydney CBD to the Oberon Shire, we’ve narrowed down the perfect pit stops in the Blue Mountains to pick up everything you need for your stay. Plus you can help out local towns who have been affected by the 2019/20 bushfires with a road trip for good.
As we supply all the main necessities to make your stay as relaxed and comfortable as possible, you don’t need to pack a trailer full of gear (phew!). Just grab an empty esky to fill with delicious local Blue Mountains produce and your drink of choice at the halfway point, the quaint little town of Leura. You might even be able to squeeze in a bit of sight seeing if you have time on your side!

After following the M4 to the Great Western Hwy you should hit Leura after about 90 minutes from Sydney CBD. Known as ‘The Jewel in the Mountains Crown’, Leura is full of Edwardian style architecture, tree-lined streets, fantastic cafes, grocers and boutiques. Leura was not damaged by the bushfires but is feeling the impact from a loss of tourism. Let’s do our part and pay them a visit!
If the drive has left you famished and you’re in the mood for some impressive grub, head to the Leura Garage. This award winning cafe, restaurant and bar offers a mediterranean-inspired menu with a focus on fresh, locally sourced produce, not to mention exceptional local wine. This eco garage/ converted mechanics workshop is a worthwhile pit stop.

Head to Leura Gourmet Cafe & Deli to pick up nibblies and some great takeaway meal options such as pies, pasta bakes and salads for those not wanting to cook over the weekend. You might like to grab some of the local gourmet honey and jams which would make for the perfect gift. The cafe has spectacular bush views and a great array of tea and treats if you’re in the mood.

If you’re looking to stock up on drinks for your Daisy stay, Leura Cellars is known for its great range of craft beer, wine and spirits. For your bakery needs including scrumptious organic sourdough bread, head to the Bakehouse on Wentworth (Leura location). For those with a sweet tooth, Josophans Fine Chocolates is the place to be. For all other food and drink supplies, there’s a grocery store on the main drag too.
If you’re up for a bit of sightseeing, The Three Sisters vista point in Katoomba is under 10 minutes away (en route to Daisy). The famous unusual rock formation represents three sisters who were turned to stone according to Aboriginal legend. Attracting millions of visitors each year, and backlit until around 11pm each night, it makes for a great stop over.
